What is the Struggle?

The Struggle
What is the Struggle? For most of us, it is trying to get on the road to financial freedom. Many of us are trying to find ways to get enough cash flow so we don’t ever have to worry about another expense again. To some, this is the meaning of life. I struggle through life, enjoying it every so often and stuffing money away in a 401k and pension so that when I retire I can live in prosperity. Well, some people reach the end of that struggle not long after finishing college. Some people make it big and become entrepreneurs, big time musicians, or even hit the lottery to name a few. Some of these people blow away their money as quick as it came. While some of the others just no longer have that need for money.
Based on what I have seen, when someone no longer has to worry about money anymore it is a wonderful experience for them at first. That person goes and does whatever money can buy. Then a few years pass by and the person realizes that he or she has done everything and extraordinary events become mundane. This person then has two options. They can either curl up into depression because they no longer have anything to achieve for, fight for, struggle for or they can choose to try and help others. I believe when someone rich is helping the poor they are doing it to fulfill that void in their life that was lost when the money was found. The old struggle of poverty has turned into a struggle of sanity and the wealthy person is wondering what the meaning of life really is. Struggling for the things we desire takes our focus away from why we are really here. I think it is a good thing because I personally get depressed when I try to think about the meaning of life. What makes most people happy is a challenge.
For some a challenge is going from broke, to having a car, to a place to stay, to middle class, upper middle, and so on. For that person, life is about self-growth. I am one of those people. I like to learn new things all the time. For others, a challenge is to be number one in an activity like a sporting event. These people excel in sports and competitions because that is where their energy lies. Some of these people may be poor but in turn play some mean football or basketball and mop the floor with you. For others it is a combination of the two. I believe the best thing to try to do is be versatile and learn a little bit of everything but focus on the things you enjoy.
In conclusion, the struggle I am talking about can be a good thing. When you struggle you are trying to get something better for yourself. You are working hard at something that you know one day will pay off. If you did not have to work for it, you would not appreciate it. I know I wouldn’t appreciate one million dollars if it was given to me for no apparent reason. I would feel guilty I received it. I would feel cheated out of this game called life.
